Bobby Fischer

£2,250.00

Bobby Fischer (1943 – 2008) A rare 10″ x 8″ half-length photograph of Bobby Fischer seated at a chessboard, signed in blue ballpoint. Signed partially in a darker portion, with some overall creasing, including a noticeable diagonal vertical crease passing through Fischer’s last name and left shoulder. We have added a lightened close-up of the signature above. A note to the reverse indicates that the autograph was obtained in person at a hotel in Iceland in 1972. Fischer is very very rare in signed photographs. This example, signed at the time of his historic match against Boris Spassky in 1972, is particularly desirable. That match was later described by Garry Kasparov as ‘a crushing moment in the midst of the Cold War’. Pre-Certified by Autographs COA, Number PC208464
