Description
Exceptionally rare card from the Irish Grand Prix held at Phoenix Park Dublin, 18th and 19th July 1930. Signed by several drivers of the pre-war era including Tim Birkin (1896 – 1933) – Bentley, Malcolm Campbell (1885 – 1948) – Mercedes, Rudolf Carracciola (1901 – 1959) Mercedes (whom won the event), Kaye Don (1891 – 1981) – Aston Martin, Archie Frazer Nash (1989 – 1965) – Austin, Cyril Whitcroft (+) – Riley, Beris Harcourt-Wood (1902 – 1968), Bertie Kensington-Moir (1899-1961) and Gunnar Poppe (1901 +) – Austin. There are other signatures I cannot recognise, although I believe one is Jean Chassagne (1881 – 1947). Birkin was one of the “Bentley Boys” of the era. A rare combination of early motor racing history.
