Ferruccio Lamborghini

Ferruccio Lamborghini (1916 – 1993) Interesting autograph on the sleeve of a T Shirt. History from the recipient included, which reads ” In the month of August 1989, my parents were staying with a lady called Constance Veer in Lago di Trasimeno in Umbria, Italy. They had stayed in Constance’s self-catering accommodation before and Constance an English woman had lived in Italy for many years. On one of the days she suggested they take a drive out to see a friend of hers at his vineyard nearby, when they arrived they were introduced to a not overly tall, but attractive sun tanned man. This man was the owner of the said vineyard they were meeting THE Ferruccio Lamborghini!. Ferruccio was 73 at the time and showed Constance and my parents around the vineyard and the Museum, he showed then the first tractor that began the Lamborghini legacy and there were about ten other amazing Lamborghini’s through the decades. Unfortunately my parents aren’t car experts, so I can’t tell you which models they were. Ferruccio was very charming and had retired to Umbria some years before, he absolutely loved the area and his vineyard. At the end of the visit he gestured to my Mum to sit and he sat at his desk and produced two white Lamborghini t- shirts, one for my sister and one for me, Mum and Dad spoke some Italian so he knew they had daughters (we were in our twenties then). He then proceeded to sign each of  them on the sleeve, mine with blue pen, my sisters with black. My parents thanked him profusely and they left, with Constance saying as they drove away ‘hold onto those they will be valuable one day’. So they gave us the t-shirts on our return and we were very interested to hear about how they had met the actual Lamborghini! Then both of us put them away safely in drawers, wrapped still in the same bag Lamborghini put them in. Occasionally over the years, I would take mine out and check it was ok, and look at the signature and marvel at it, then put it back. They have been with us for so long. Then one morning I decided ‘these should be on display somewhere, not in a dark drawer’ and we both  wanted them to go to owners where they would be appreciated”. Anything signed by Lamborghini is rare. A photograph of him on the day is included.
